10 things about me

IMG_0641

So I finally finished my About page which gives a very general overview about my life and what I want the blog to be.  I figured it would be fun to do 10 more random things that didn’t fit the section.  They’re  just random little things that could possibly come up in conversation when I meet someone new.

  1. I can’t live without my Kindle.  I finally upgraded to a Paperwhite last year (it was a milestone birthday gift from my siblings) and that built-in light is seriously one of the best things ever invented.  I also love my iPad (because I read a lot of magazines) but if I had to choose between the two, I’d go with my Kindle any day.
  2. I think better when I write things down on paper.  It’s not the most efficient method as I usually have to re-type my thoughts into a separate document anyway, like this blog entry, for example.
  3. I doodle during meetings to keep from falling asleep.
  4. It’s surprising how much I love being a mom.  For a long time I didn’t want kids and then I did but had a difficult time getting pregnant.  Giving birth and being a new mom were also so hard.  But as my daughter grows up and continues to become this amazing little person, my mama-hood role is fitting me pretty nicely.
  5. Beach or the mountains?  Definitely the beach.  Coffee or tea?  Tea (especially iced).  Knitting reference alert: Magic loop or DPNs?  DPNs (double-pointed needles).
  6. I’ve been keeping a journal since I was 10 when I received my first official one (with a real lock!) from my tita (aunt).
  7. Even if my mom passed away almost three years ago, I still miss her terribly and will find myself crying in the most random places or times (something that’s completely normal, I’m assured by all who have also lost their parents).
  8. When I travel, my souvenir of choice is yarn.  And I try as hard as I can to mail a postcard to my daughter, B.
  9. If you are what you read, here are my magazine subscriptions (I subscribe to seven!): Vogue, Vanity Fair, Fast Company, Inc., Living Etc., O, Psychologies.
  10. I’m a consistent beginner yogi, despite a practice that’s more than 10 years old. I try to meditate as well.  Exercise and meditation just don’t stick.  So how do I turn these into habits?  Maybe I need coaching on this.
