Leaning into joy

Make September YOUR month of joy.

Make September YOUR month of joy.

Thoughts become things.

When I planned my blog content for August, I decided that my focus would be on how to deal with difficult emotions since most of my clients come to me for help in managing anger, fear, intense sadness.

What I didn’t know was that I would have to deal with these difficult emotions in August.  Family issues emerged.  Old patterns and hurts were remembered.  Tears and anger came up.

Thoughts become things.

So this month, I’m leaning into joy.  I’m leaning into pleasure, into laughter, ease, love.

September looks like it’s going to be a busy month.  There will be another huge event for my company mid-month.  I have a short trip scheduled.  Most importantly, it’s the last month of my coach training program which means we’re gearing up to submit our final portfolio and getting our hours in.

Despite that, I’m still making sure to make pleasure a priority, to put joy on my to-do list.

What I can do:

  • Make time every day to do what I love:  knitting, cuddling with my daughter, reading books that are not for life coaching book club or for work.
  • Take breaks during the day: to walk, to snack, to do some mindless surfing.
  • Catch up with and see my friends.
  • Sleep early.
  • Climb the stairs.  (I haven’t been making time for exercise.  Instead, I take the elevator only when I arrive in the office and when I leave.  During the day, I climb the seven floors up to my office or run down  to my meetings.)

So if thoughts become things, I want a happy life to emerge from my joyful thoughts.

How about you?  How can September be YOUR happy month?
