Why life coaching is the new black

Ooh, blog titles that are like magazine titles.  (An aside:  when I was working as a big-time magazine publisher, I could predict the editorial calendar of the magazines.  January is New Year, New You.  March was the Big Summer Issue.  June is Back to School and December is all about the Gift Guide.  Hoping I don’t fall into the same predictable rut with my blog.)

So what is life coaching anyway?  Here’s the intro I use for my pre-session questionnaire:

Coaching is an amazing investment in yourself, in getting to know yourself better, and working courageously towards living your best life.  As your life coach, I will help you access your inner voice, allowing you to gain clarity and supporting you in your dreams.

If you want encouragement in living up to your life’s vision, in moving towards joy, delight, passion and purpose, then life coaching is for you.

If you want to get clear in defining exactly what you want to make your best life happen, then life coaching is for you.

If you want to wake up and go through your day excited and energized instead of bored and lethargic, then life coaching is for you.

How exactly will this work?

One-on-one focused sessions on a weekly or bi-weekly basis, practices, an open heart and a collaborative spirit are needed to make this a success.  It won’t always be easy.  You will need to do the work and a lot of things that you might not want to dig up will definitely come up.  It will be the worst of times and the best of times.  But if you are committed, then the change—and life—you are looking for will definitely happen.

So I’m not exactly sure if life coaching is the new black but it is my new life and it’s definitely more exciting and keeping me more energized than my old life just following trends.

I won't only be there when things fall apart but when things start aligning with your life vision.
