Three days into journaling with prompts, I’m finding the experience to be expansive.
The prompts allow me to go beyond ruminations of my day, which can sometimes be repetitive. They let me look at my life in a different—and deeper—way. Most importantly, they’re fun.
The August 2 and 3 prompts for the 31 Days of Journaling challenge were 10 things I love about me and 10 things I love about my life.
These are two of my favorite practices to give my life coaching clients. especially when their default behavior is to revert to negative self-talk, when there’s a lack of optimism, celebration and joy in their lives.
I ask them to write more than 10 things they love about themselves and their lives. Most times, they get stumped, especially when they’re answering as if they’re in a job interview. But I tell them to look at even the small things: the dimples that make them look like a high schooler at 30, that they can still fit into their pre-motherhood denim shorts, how they can immediately wake up at even the tiniest cry from their baby.
Find some time to cherish yourself today. Write two lists: 10 things you love about yourself and 10 things you love about your life. Then sit back, breathe in your blessings and say a prayer of gratitude for how good your life is.
If you still want to join me for my August challenge of 31 Days of Journaling, you can find all the details here. It’s never too late.
