When life feels like one big yawn, it’s good to shake things up once in a while. Here are 13 small but amazing changes you can make that will make you feel so much better:
Track things you want to improve—like the days in a week you went to yoga class, the number of glasses of water you drink in a day, the number of books you’ve read in a month. You can use an app or do what I do which is to track it manually in a notebook. Small wins, big smile.
2. Make your button-down work shirt weekend-friendly by trying these five ways to wear it.
3. Go on a digital detox one day a week (maybe on a Sunday?). No social media, no email, just time for family, good books, leisurely meals and naps.
4. Try a bralette instead of your usual beige, padded T-shirt bra.
5. Read a new type of book. If you’re always reading fiction, why don’t you try a young adult series? (I really love these and this.) Or how about non-fiction or a beautifully-written memoir?
6. Explore the world of podcasts—free entertainment that’s a nice break from your played-to-death Spotify playlist or the yammering of local DJs. What I’m listening to now: Jess Lively and The Slow Home.
7. Learn a new creative skill (online, check out Skillshare; offline, try a Craftmnl class).
8. Change your smart phone’s lock screen from a family or travel photo to a positive quote or a gorgeous image from a professional photographer.
9. Use a different color pen—how about purple, pink or even khaki or gray?
10. Tweak your standard Powerpoint template. I usually create a fun one using Canva, download that and use it as a background.
11. Add some stickers to your planner or computer.
12. Buy a new pillow and some fresh linen sheets. Add a sexy scent diffuser. Make your bedroom a den of pleasure.
13. Your money deserves a fresh, wonderful home so why not buy a new wallet? Alternatively, you can clean out your wallet and get rid of old receipts, stale calling cards or half-filled loyalty cards.
