A simple coaching tool to give you clarity and direction for the second half of the year

wheel of life

There’s a popular coaching tool called the Wheel of Life. You take a look at the different areas of your life and rank your satisfaction with them from 1 to 10 (1 being the lowest and 10 being the highest).

It’s a tool I rarely use because I think it’s such a cliché (I like to think of myself as a coach who uses fun and creative tools). One day, I intuitively decided to ask a client to fill it up as we were going for another round of my intensive program. When she showed me what she did and how it gave her clarity on the areas in her life she wanted to devote her attention to, I realized why it was so useful and so popular.

I then decided to use it myself so I could get direction for the second half of the year and woohoo! That’s exactly what I got. I could see what I needed to focus on and could celebrate the parts of my life that were already working.

Sometimes the corniest idea is truly what works. The Wheel of Life is one of those. It’s such a simple tool to shine the light on the different areas of your life so you can appreciate what’s awesome and focus on what’s not.

I created my own interpretation of the Wheel of Life tool along with journaling prompts because that’s how I roll.
