Taking one small step is already an act of courage

My reflection on this quote:

My journey to becoming a life coach started, as many journeys do, on the internet.

Nope, it wasn’t by searching for reviews on Trip Advisor or finding airline deals.

It started with a Google search and an email. Then I attended a sample coach training and felt intuitively that my Asian voice would get lost in that class. Found another program. Sent another email. Applied. Was interviewed. Had to work with a coach to determine if this was really the right path for me. Was finally accepted to the program. Made the down payment. And then booked the plane ticket to head to California for our training retreat.

So many small steps before I even began my 10-month coaching program.
Taking that one small step is already an act of courage. And continuing to put one foot in front of the other is a continuous commitment to the life that I want, a small act of courage even if there are no guarantees.

Because, more than failure, what I fear most is regret. And I have never regretted taking that first step.

What’s one small step can you take today to get you closer to the life YOU want? Maybe it’s sending that email. Or signing up for a workshop. Maybe it’s saying hi. Or putting on your trainers. Or opening up a blank page and typing “Chapter 1.” Whatever it is, revel in the possibilities of where this one step can take you.

Abbey’s reflection on this quote:

This is your weekly reminder that every small step counts—and it’s in these little advances that we become braver and better. And as they say, a little definitely does go a long way. ⭐️

This month, I’m starting a new collaboration with author and artist Abbey Sy. It’s called Your Field Guide for Life. These are weekly reminders on living with love, courage, creativity, acceptance and purpose. May it provide you the pause and inspiration you need as you scroll through your Instagram feed. Art by Abbey, words by me.

On this blog, I’m consolidating our reflections on the quote above as seen on Instagram—which will hopefully give you new perspectives.
