Have the courage to trust

My reflection on this quote:

When I was working in the corporate world, I only knew two speeds: forward and fast. The path was set by my boss and all I had to do was follow.

When I decided to become a full-time life coach, the decision was easy. It was staying true to the path that was hard. Because sometimes it didn’t feel like I was moving forward. There were tears, many moments of doubt and lots of questions. And the pace was nowhere close to fast.

But in the pause, I was able to understand what I truly wanted and to make space for fun and creative opportunities to emerge.

From my past experiences, I know too that my life has its own perfect timing, that the dots will connect, the lines will intersect when they need to. And forcing it when it’s not the right time has never EVER been a good idea.

When my inner critic would ask: hey, shouldn’t you be further along than you are? I remember this: Don’t compare your chapter one to someone’s chapter 10 (and by chapter, I don’t even mean years). You are on your own path, your own pace.

Have the courage to trust it.

Abbey’s reflection on this quote:

Timing is everything—and by giving ourselves the courage to trust where we are headed, then that’s all that matters for now ✨🕰

This month, I’m starting a new collaboration with author and artist Abbey Sy. It’s called Your Field Guide for Life. These are weekly reminders on living with love, courage, creativity, acceptance and purpose. May it provide you the pause and inspiration you need as you scroll through your Instagram feed. Art by Abbey, words by me.

On this blog, I’m consolidating our reflections on the quote above as seen on Instagram—which will hopefully give you new perspectives.
