And then it is April. Blazing days, ripe mangoes sweating in between fingers and lips, hours spent by the beach or pool, noisy children freed from their hectic school schedule diving into a slightly less busy summer one, the craving for darkened, air-conditioned rooms—that’s what April means in the Philippines. It’s summer here and it’s hot hot hot.
I’m calling this month Awaken April, in line with the my monthly alliteration theme. Awaken for me means taking the reins in my career and life and speeding up a little. I will still trust in the wisdom of my life’s direction but it means taking more action—getting more clients for life coaching instead of just relying on the weekly assigned coaching sessions, being more committed in my career, tying up loose ends and finalizing my consulting commitments, learning more, being more. So what does this mean in terms of what I want to achieve?
- Blog three times a week
- Get two life coaching clients outside of my training program
- Finalize new career commitment
I’ve been taking it easy for the past eight months or so and it was what I needed to recover from burnout and pain. I needed to focus on self-care, on slowing down, on listening to me and my heart. But I feel alive again, my spirit and morale ready to take on more. I feel like I’ve woken up from a long and rejuvenating nap, energized and ready to face the world again.
So how did I do with my Momentum March commitments?
- Daily meditation: 18/31
- Mid-day workout: 7/20
- Daily journaling: 10/31
- Blogging: 9/15
Building good habits is not easy. I think focusing and being successful in just one or two things instead of four will be easier for my lapsed, over-achieving self. So what do I focus on? The blogging is needed for my business, the yoga, meditation and journaling are needed for my self-care. I think I will continue my yoga and meditation practices and just keep trying to be consistent and starting over and over again when I fall.
