1.The Sunday Night Journal

After completing volume 1 of The Sunday Night Journal, I’m so happy to have started this habit and published this heart-crafted book. From a first draft I made using Canva to a professionally-designed and printed book, it’s been so amazing to see the journey of this journal from my imagination to so many hands around world.

The weekly review helped me make incremental improvements without having to wait for a new year reset. There were themes that kept coming up as I answered the journaling questions which forced me to pay attention to what I was ignoring. Setting three priorities gave my work focus. Starting the week with gratitude is always a good idea.

It’s become a lovely keepsake too, a way to remember instead of just sleepwalking through my years.

2. Scribd

I wrote in my Best Year Ever workbook that I needed to find a way to make my time in traffic more pleasurable. It’s a reality in the Philippines and I can either resist it and be irritated or accept it and be calm about the situation.

I still listen to podcasts (here are a couple that I loved from last year: this and this) but discovering Scribd changed my traffic game. Scribd is the Netflix of audiobooks (and some e-books). Through the app (and the hours in traffic), I have listened to Becoming by Michelle Obama, Bad Blood by John Carreyrou, The Subtle Art of Not Giving a F*ck by Mark Manson, among others. Non-fiction is my favorite audiobook genre. I find it difficult to keep track of characters when listening to fiction. 

I actually look forward to getting into my car because of a compelling book on Scribd.

3. Intermittent fasting

Another thing I wrote in my workbook was “find a fun way to lose weight.” I thought I was limited to playing Just Dance on the Nintendo Switch or doing my barre exercises on Youtube. 

But I discovered intermittent fasting (IF) which is so aligned with the way I eat. It’s a simple idea: eat for x number of hours, fast for longer than that. I chose the eat-for-eight-fast-for-16 schedule. I eat breakfast at 9 a.m. and have dinner at 5 p.m. Because of IF, I have said goodbye to post-dinner cocktails, midnight chocolates and movie date popcorn.

I take a break on weekends though as my hormones started reacting badly during the first few months. This pause from fasting also allows me to have normal meals with my family.

But yes, after months of IF, my tummy has gotten flatter and my clothes are fitting better. I’ve finally found my fun way to lose weight.

As always, ask your doctor before starting on any diet program…and listen to your body.

4. The Prosperous Coach

5. Getting my own coach

I’ve written about how coaches need coaches too. This was one of the best things I did for myself and I’m looking forward to my annual coaching session with my coach this March.

And here are five things I’m curious about exploring in 2019: Masterclass, learning to cook more dishes, a fun exercise class outside the house every week (this month, I’m trying out spinning classes in Electric Studio), reading at least four books a month (three for work and one for pleasure) and throwing crappy dinner parties.
