Mindful choices are made from a place of power and meaning. It is not dictated by external circumstances or by long-held convictions that aren’t true anymore. One of our exercises when I trained to be a life coach was to articulate the worst things we say to ourselves. I said “I’m lazy.” One of my classmates said, “I’m a slut.” And we realized that these aren’t 100% true. We are sometimes lazy and most times, hard-working. We are sometimes a slut and sometimes a prude.
Mindful choices come from a place of knowing your strengths and values and listening to your intuition.
When you come from a place of power and meaning, you can choose to be proactive even if all your office mates are whining about a project. You can choose to turn off social media if you find yourself feeling like you’re unworthy or envious or overwhelmed. You can choose to save money instead of hanging out with your barkada after work because of your vision of saving up for a future trip, a future home, your child’s future.
