This month, I’m starting a new collaboration with author and artist Abbey Sy. It’s called Your Field Guide for Life. These are weekly reminders on living with love, courage, creativity, acceptance and purpose. May it provide you the pause and inspiration you need as you scroll through your Instagram feed. Art by Abbey, words by me.
On this blog, I’m consolidating our reflections on the quote above as seen on Instagram—which will hopefully give you new perspectives.
My reflection on this quote:
Every day, you are transforming, becoming the woman you were always meant to be.
Be open to new thoughts, to new ideas about your life, to new possibilities. Shed your old identity even if it’s painful. Know that growing into your own skin is always a humbling process, one that takes courage, patience and grace. Allow yourself to be soft, to be vulnerable, to not know the answers. Trust in your intuition, in your intentions, in your inner wisdom to guide you in this wondrous journey. Allow for detours, mistakes and even failures. Be open to slow revelations, sparks of insight, helping hands, doors shutting, windows opening and answers unfolding. There is no need for force, only gentleness and compassion.
Most of all, have courage, dear one. This path to knowing your most authentic self and showing up in the world as you truly are is worth it…despite the pain, the fear, the rejection.
Because you will find acceptance that matters, love that lasts, and an unshakeable knowing.
Abbey’s reflection on this quote:
Here’s a (not so) secret. In my years of being in this career, I have been afraid of many things—uncertainty being the ultimate one. I always questioned myself, and as time went on, slowly realized that questioning was not needed. It was having the courage to acknowledge what I am good at, what I can share to others, and what I represent in the art world. Having grown up in an environment where my creativity was not recognized (especially in school and getting discouraged by art teachers) pushed me to further question the one thing that has given me purpose ever since the first time I picked up a pencil. And I hope I get to bury those questions now, and tell myself that the answers are all in me. I just need the courage to open myself up to be the woman I am meant to be. ⭐️
