Stop doing list

on things to stop doingWe’re given so much advice on how to be more productive. Use this app. Use the Pomodoro technique. Try a paper planner. Focus only on three important things. Try the GTD method. How about a bullet journal?

With our endless to-do lists and all the advice we’re receiving, no wonder we’re so overwhelmed…and then feel paralyzed because we’re not sure about the next step to take or who we should listen to.

Last night, I tried something new, that’s the complete opposite of all the productivity recommendations. Instead of adding to my to-do list, I did a STOP DOING list.

My STOP DOING list was composed of behaviors that added no value to my life, that hindered my growth, that didn’t make me feel better.

It included:

  • Stop the self-pity.
  • Stop worrying.
  • Stop thinking that your dream is around the next corner.

How about you? What can you stop doing today?

(Maybe a great first step is to stop reading about productivity. Just take one small step daily and then keep refining your process along the way.)
