The gifts of devotion

morning pages

What are you devoted to?

My belief: How you show up for yourself is how you show up for others and the rest of your life.

Doing things solely for others—their approval, praise, criticism and allowing all that to determine your worth—is unsustainable. (Please note the emphasis on the word solely. I know you understand the difference between coming from a space of people pleasing rather than integrity, love and commitment.)

When you show yourself that you matter daily, things change.

You don’t need clichéd self-care things. You can take tiny actions like:

Being kind in how you speak to yourself.
Laughing.
Making deliberate time for the people and activities you love and not taking the easier path of scrolling through Instagram or TikTok.
Listening to your body.
Honoring your curiosity and your creativity.
Praying.
Playing.
Gratitude.

Life shifts. You’re not putting a mask anymore so you’re a little less exhausted, a little less angry, a little less hard, a little less lost, a little more confident, a little more courageous, a little more calm, a little more kind, a little more joyful.

And maybe that tiny shift isn’t so little after all.
