This powerful question was asked during my morning meditation a few days ago. (Spoiler alert: it’s also the last question in Volume 1 of The Sunday Night Journal.)
It’s a difficult question to answer. It’s easier to know what everyone else needs from you.
But ask it over and over again anyway.
The answer might come in a whisper.
Or it might make you squirm.
It might not be what you want to hear.
Listen anyway.
Maybe you need rest…for your tired body and spirit.
Maybe you need to express an intense emotion…like anger or frustration or sadness or fear.
Or maybe you need courage to do the hard thing, to have the difficult conversation, to be quiet and humble.
Maybe you need to nurture your relationships.
Maybe you need some space…away from your computer, social media or anything else dragging down your energy.
Or maybe it’s time to remember why you fell in love (with each other, with your job, your life, your self).
Honor what you need, not just what others need from you.
