How are you doing with your word for the year?

word for the yearWhat word did you choose to live by for the year?

We’re midway through 2017. It’s a good time to sit down and assess whether you have made any progress on your word.  Take out your journal so you can reflect on the questions below:

1. How did you live your word in January…February…March…and so on?  Give specific examples.

2. Are there any achievements you should be celebrating?  Don’t forget to treat yourself!

3. How are you planning to live your word in the next few months?  Give concrete actions (for example, if your word is adventure, then don’t just say, “I’m going to travel before the year ends.”  You can say instead, “I’m going to book my trip to Japan on my next payday.”).

4. If you have not made progress on your word, write it down over and over.  Doodle around it.  Make word art.  See if it still resonates.  If not, look back at the last few months and see what you have made your life revolve around.  Have they been meaningful pursuits?  If they have, then see if there’s a word that better fits what you want.

If your word still resonates, then go back to question #3.

5. Pretend it’s the end of the year and you’re writing a summary of what you’ve accomplished.  What do you want your list to include? How do you want it to reflect the word you’ve chosen? What do you want to thank and congratulate yourself for at the end of the year?

Remember there are still six more months to make the year count. You can still have the best year of your life.  And wherever you are, don’t forget to celebrate.
