10 Things I’m Loving Now

1. We recently got HGTV in the Philippines and I am obsessed with Beachfront Bargain Hunt and Fixer Upper.

The first show feeds into my dream of owning my own beach house while Fixer Upper is all about massive makeovers (an idea that I can really get behind).

2. It’s the hottest summer in memory (maybe because I’m not working in an air-conditioned office anymore). My essentials: cool showers, swimming and bottomless glasses of iced tea.

3. These sandals.

4. This app.

5. I just finished knitting this—yes, it’s knit out of wool (Madelinetosh Merino Light, to be precise), despite the crazy summer heat.

6.  I really enjoyed these books:  Difference, Where’d You Go, Bernadette? and A Wilder Rose.

Difference is a marketing book that starts with the customer’s truth and how your product can resonate with that instead of the other way around.

Where’d You Go, Bernadette? is about how the most unexpected and unforeseen people and events can change your life in ways you can never have imagined.  It’s also about the love between a daughter and her imperfect mother.

Since I am such a fan of the Little House series, I thoroughly enjoyed A Wilder Rose which is all about how Rose Wilder took the manuscripts of her mother, Laura Ingalls Wilder, and shaped them into the stories we know now.

7.  My favorite store:  L’indochine where I stocked up on tunics, a lacquer tray and hand-painted Indonesian storage baskets during their sale.

8.  Soft tacos and mid-day glasses of margarita from Oralé

9. Marketing training:  Who would have thought that building your own brand would be more challenging than doing marketing for million-peso products?  Our marketing training is forcing us to refine our offer, using real language and real insights from our client sessions (without divulging confidential information, of course).

Our marketing curriculum comes from The Coaching Blueprint, “a step-by-step guide for creating a coaching practice that makes more money, all while honoring your values.”  It has been invaluable and has forced me to learn and relearn everything I thought I already knew about marketing.
