B, my daughter, came home from camp yesterday, exclaiming, “Oh, mom, camp was so fun!”
I reminded her about her attitude in the morning. She was dragging her feet. There were longing looks at the iPad where a new game was waiting. She had whined, “Why do I need to go to camp?”
She laughed and said, “Oh, mom. Just ignore what I say about camp in the morning. I always have fun in camp.”
If you’re dragging your feet to do something, try ignoring your procrastinating tendencies and remember how you feel AFTER you do something. Whether that’s the workout you keep putting off, paying off a pesky credit card bill or having a difficult but honest conversation, one of Stephen Covey’s seven habits is worth remembering: Begin with the end in mind.
Because that end can mean endorphins, relief and even joy…that will help you forget how you once felt.
