When I was working full-time in the corporate world, I was desperate to add more dimension to my life, to go beyond the work-home-weekend routine.
I wanted a side hustle, something else that I could do to provide extra income. I wanted to find another passion (although I was very intense about my work). I wanted to find a business that could fill my free time (beyond TV time or reading).
But nothing came to mind…despite trying out different classes, endless hours spent Googling, reading entrepreneurial blogs.
It was only after leaving my corporate jobs that I found the space to dream, to imagine, to plan. I came out with collaborative projects such as The Best Advice from Life Coaches, retreat ideas, blog posts, journaling prompts and planners.
But you don’t have to leave the corporate job to do that. It just requires stillness, time and even a little boredom. I realize that what I did in the past—filling my time with activity, search and the noise of the internet—was actually unproductive in terms of attracting inspiration.
Are you willing, this weekend, to just sit in silence, maybe with your journal, to allow inspiration? Are you willing, this weekend, to give up your busy self to allow stillness? Are you willing, this weekend, to get a little bored so you can let creativity do its work?
