Tools for your midyear check-in

Do you feel that July is a month of meh? That’s how I always saw it too.

There was nothing to break its 31-day monotony. When schools started in June, July was a month when students would have settled into their routine, their schedules memorized, their classes long and repetitive. Nothing exciting was planned. July symbolized life at its most ordinary, most mundane.

But I realized what made July special was its position at the start of the second half of the year. In the last three years, I have looked at it as an opportunity to pause and process what happened in the last six months. It also became my time to recommit to my intention and to realign my actions, thoughts and habits with it. (Sometimes, this also meant changing my intention given what had happened in the year’s first half.)

I’ve shared many questions and tools in the past. Here are some of them:

A midyear check-in: 5 questions to ask
A simple coaching tool for clarity and direction for the second half of the year
What if…

I also created a midyear questionnaire in Volume 3 of The Sunday Night Journal

My hope is that making time for evaluating your life, processing your emotions and making a commitment to your intention for the next six months will transform your July from meh to magical.
